Behind the Scenes
It started with a message from a friend.
She works at the National Cancer Centre Singapore (NCCS), part of the SingHealth cluster. Every year, SingHealth rallies its staff behind the President’s Challenge, Singapore’s national movement supporting people with disabilities and those in need.
This year, its staff bazaar was happening on 18 August, and she had one question for us: would Pinch Bakehouse be keen to set up a booth?
We did not need to think twice.

What Happened at Pinch Bakehouse’s NCCS Charity Bake Sale?
Pinch Bakehouse joined a SingHealth staff bazaar at the National Cancer Centre Singapore on 18 August, bringing 12 cartons of halal-certified brownies, tarts, cookies and other desserts. After a month-long preorder campaign and last-minute orders arriving less than 18 hours before collection, the bulk of the desserts sold in under three hours. Pinch contributed 20% of sales to the fundraiser, resulting in a four-figure contribution to the President’s Challenge cause.
When “Yes” Turns Into a Month of Preparation
This was not just another booth.
The fundraiser was supporting St Andrew’s Autism Centre, Filos Community Services, and Abilities Beyond Limitations and Expectations (ABLE), organisations working to support people and communities who need it.
As a halal-certified bakery built around the idea that desserts should be something more people can share, it was exactly the sort of event we wanted to be part of.
So we said yes.
Then the real work began.
A fundraiser booth may last a few hours, but preparing enough desserts to keep it stocked starts much earlier.
A Month of Preorders Before the First Table Was Set Up
We opened preorders almost a full month before the bazaar, giving SingHealth staff time to choose from a broad mix of Pinch favourites.
The range included assorted brownies, cornflake brownies, party packs, mini tarts, sugar-free brownies and cookies in several formats.
Easy to share at the office or take home after the event.
Suitable for gifting, Teacher’s Day and simple everyday treats.
Convenient for staff teams looking for something to share.
The booth mixed easy-to-share desserts with gift-ready cookie tins and boxed treats.
The 200g cookie tins worked especially well as gifts. The smaller 90g packs landed at just the right time too, right in the middle of Teacher’s Day season, making them an easy thank-you gift or a small treat to bring home.
Cookie flavours included Orange Chocolate, Double Chocolate Chip and Sugar-Free Cookies.
The FOMO Was Real
Preorders were supposed to close three days before the event.
They did not.
Orders kept coming in right up until less than 18 hours before collection.
There is something about a limited-time bake sale that brings out everybody’s last-minute decision-making. And when someone is placing an order late at night for an event supporting a good cause, it is hard to say no.
So instead of saying no, we baked.
Our team worked late to get the final orders freshly prepared and packed in time for the next morning.
12 Cartons, 10 People and One Busy Morning at NCCS
By the morning of 18 August, 12 cartons of desserts were making their way to Level 1 of the National Cancer Centre Singapore.
Eight volunteers, together with two members of the Pinch team, were on the ground handling preorders and welcoming staff who came by to buy on the day itself.

The booth itself was packed with brightly coloured cookie tins, dessert boxes and stacks of preordered treats.
And then people started arriving.
Gone in Under 3 Hours
We knew people liked our desserts.
We did not expect the bulk of everything we brought to disappear in under three hours.
We had even packed an additional tray of 100 brookies, half brownie and half cookie, as a just-in-case buffer.
Those went too.
Including the additional 100-piece brookie buffer.
But people were not simply buying dessert.
Every purchase meant a little more support for St Andrew’s Autism Centre, Filos Community Services and ABLE.
You could feel that generosity throughout the space. What started as a hospital staff bazaar began to feel much more like a community gathering.
A quick moment between the rush of preorders, walk-in purchases and restocking the booth.
The Numbers That Made Every Midnight Bake Worth It
This was the part that mattered most to us.
Twenty per cent of everything sold went directly to the fundraiser.
By the end of the event, Pinch Bakehouse’s contribution to the President’s Challenge cause had reached a solid four-figure amount.
Four figures raised from a few hours of brownies, cookies, tarts and other desserts.
That is the kind of result that makes a 3am baking session feel a lot less painful.

Why Halal Desserts Worked Well for a Large Staff Event
For workplace events in Singapore, the recipient list is rarely made up of only one dietary group.
Pinch Bakehouse is halal-certified, which meant SingHealth staff could shop from the same dessert selection without the event organiser needing to create a separate halal table or separate gifting stream.
That becomes particularly useful for staff bazaars, corporate celebrations and large events where inclusion needs to be built into the planning from the beginning.
Pinch’s packaged cookies display halal certification, making them easier to include in mixed workplace and event settings.
What Can Companies Serve at a Halal Corporate Event?
The NCCS event also showed why variety matters.
Not everyone wants the same dessert. Some people want something rich, some want a smaller snack, some are buying a gift and others want something they can take back to their desk.
| Event need | Suitable dessert format |
|---|---|
| Individual purchase | Brownies, brookies, mini tarts and smaller cookie packs |
| Office sharing | Assorted brownies, party packs and larger dessert boxes |
| Employee gifting | Cookie tins and boxed desserts |
| Lower-sugar preferences | Sugar-free cookie and dessert options |
| Mixed Muslim and non-Muslim teams | Halal-certified desserts that can be shared across the group |

What Event Organisers Can Learn From This Bake Sale
If you are organising a corporate fundraiser, staff bazaar or CSR event in Singapore, there are a few practical lessons from what happened at NCCS.
Give People Time to Preorder
Opening orders around a month ahead gave staff time to browse, plan gifts and decide what they wanted before event day.
Expect Last-Minute Orders
Even with a published deadline, orders continued arriving less than 18 hours before pickup. Build some flexibility into production planning.
Bring More Than the Preorders
Walk-in demand can be substantial. Even the extra 100-piece brookie buffer was sold.
Offer Different Price Points
Small treats, share boxes and gift-ready tins let people participate regardless of whether they want one snack or several gifts.
Plan for an Inclusive Audience
Halal-certified desserts can simplify planning when an event includes people from different dietary and cultural backgrounds.
Make the Cause Visible
People were not only buying dessert. They understood that their purchase was contributing to something bigger than the bake sale itself.
What Should You Look for in a Charity Bake Sale Vendor?
A good bake sale vendor needs to do more than bring desserts to a table.
Preorders, walk-ins and last-minute demand can all arrive at once.
The NCCS event involved 12 cartons and ten people on the ground between volunteers and Pinch staff.
Brownies, tarts, cookies and gift-ready formats gave customers several ways to participate.
A charity partnership should feel like more than simply another sales channel.
Why This Matters for Corporate CSR Events
Corporate CSR events work best when participation feels easy.
Staff should be able to walk past a booth, spot something they genuinely want, buy it and know that part of the purchase is supporting a meaningful cause.
The dessert is the reason they stop.
The cause is the reason the purchase feels bigger than dessert.
A good fundraiser gives people an easy way to do something generous.
That is why events like this fit Pinch so naturally. We can bring the brownies, cookies, cakes and tarts. The organisers bring the people and the purpose. Together, the event becomes something both sides could not create alone.

The Best Part Was Never the Sell-Out
We left NCCS tired in the best possible way.
There had been a month of planning, last-minute orders, late-night baking, an early setup and a few hours where the table seemed to empty as quickly as we could fill it.
Selling almost five figures of desserts in a few hours was exciting.
But the part we remember most is knowing that a portion of every brownie, cookie and tart helped support organisations doing meaningful work.
Because at the end of the day, the best events are not only about what is on the table.
They are about who it is for.
